The Teak House is Canada's online resource for products and information related to teak furniture like mid century teak, Danish teak, vintage teak and Scandinavian teak. We are a Canadian, family owned business based in Montreal, Quebec. 

History - Three Generations in the Teak Business

Back in 1969, in the thick of the teak furniture boom in North America, a Canadian couple opened a furniture store in Montreal and became the area's premier destination for teak furniture. In the years that followed, the store was arguably responsible for driving the trend in teak and modern European furniture in Quebec. If you bought furniture in Montreal during the 70s and 80s, chances are that at least one purchase was made there.

In 2018, La Galerie Danoise closed its doors after nearly 40 years of specializing in teak. It was one of the last remaining stores in Canada to sell new indoor teak furniture and had undoubtedly been responsible for furnishing the homes of older generations, people who now live across Canada and elsewhere. 

After the closure, the Teak House emerged from the ashes, with a mission to continue to offer the products our customers had grown to love. Most notably, our Teak Oil is not easily found in Canada and many of those who have used it in the past swear by it and won't use anything else. 

Vision and Mission

We want to make sure that vintage teak furniture can continue to be passed down for the generations to come. To achieve this, we want to educate and inform current and future owners about how to best care for and restore their precious teak furniture. 

Our Products

Our high quality products are imported directly from Denmark and represent the highest standards in wood furniture care, maintenance and cleaning. From our famous Teak Oil used for generations to new formulations like Bianco Oil for white finished woods, our line of products for wood furniture is made with minimal or no toxic ingredients. 

Our products offer three main benefits:

1. Protect your family heirlooms: Our products contain natural oils to help hydrate the wood, this will prevent cracks and permanent stains from developing.
2. Improve the appearance of wood: Naturally finished woods like teak and rosewood will change color when exposed to sunlight and can appear dull over time. Our products will rejuvenate the wood to restore its natural color and shine.
3. Clean naturally and safely: Our products are ECOCERT certified and made with the fewest ingredients possible to avoid harmful toxins and damaging agents.
